About Reserva Nacional Ñuble

Located in the Ñuble Region of south-central Chile, Reserva Nacional Ñuble encompasses a diverse range of landscapes from dense native forests to rugged mountain terrain within the Andes. Established to conserve this region's rich biodiversity, the reserve protects numerous endemic plant species, ancient lenga and coihue forests, and critical habitats for wildlife such as the endangered Huemul deer and Andean condors. The reserve is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts who are drawn by its network of scenic hiking trails, opportunities for camping under pristine skies, and winter sports like skiing and snowboarding at the nearby Nevados de Chillán volcanic complex. Visitors can explore thermal hot springs, glacier-fed lakes, and volcanic peaks, including the impressive Cerro Las Termas. The area also boasts cultural significance tied to indigenous Mapuche heritage and historic routes used for trade and travel across the mountains. With cooler temperatures and seasonal snow, the reserve offers varying experiences year-round, from vibrant autumn foliage to summer wildflower blooms. Its remote setting and well-maintained trails provide an immersive nature experience away from urban centers, inviting visitors to appreciate Chile’s southern wilderness and alpine environments in relative solitude. The reserve's combination of ecological diversity, panoramic views, and adventure sports make it an appealing destination for nature lovers and outdoor recreation seekers alike.
